New Dharmic Rama Krishna School opens at Liliendaal

President of the Guyana Hindu Dharmic Sabha, Dr Vindhya Persaud, accompanied by board members and the staff, on Friday conducted a walk-through at the school.

Following the inspection, Dr Persaud told the News Room that the expansion provides more space for the children.

“Over time, we felt that the school population was outgrowing the space and we wanted to modernise and have more advanced facilities.

“It is a state-of-the-art school and we will also be having smart classrooms here as well. The intention is to equip the school with every facility possible. There will be areas for yoga, music, dance, and art, and in addition to the national curriculum, we will be encouraging the young people to take part in cultural activities,” Dr Persaud said.

The school follows the national curriculum for Grades One to Six; it also offers cultural subjects, including the Hindi Language. It is a private school that children from all backgrounds can attend and receive excellent teaching.

Using funds collected in fundraising activities, the organisation constructed the facilities but minor construction is still ongoing at the building to house secondary school students; it is expected to be operational in September.

Dr Persaud said the school holds its students to high values which is proven in the academic achievements of its learners. She also commended the school’s teachers and the principal for this. According to the Headmistress, Seetagie Coonjah, this is achieved through cooperation at all levels.

“At all levels, the teachers don’t have to be driven to do it. They are dedicated and I am very happy to say we’ve got a very encouraging Board of Directors.

“The children themselves are competitive in a very healthy manner and the parents too, we have a combined effort,” the Principal said.

She noted that the school has highly qualified teachers and board members who have been involved in the education system for many years. She encouraged parents to enroll their children at the school; no registration fee is attached.
