Two breathalyser tests were conducted and they recorded .64 and .67 micrograms, respectively, which is above the legal limit.
Officers then searched Haynes and found a .32 Beretta pistol with six live matching rounds on his person.
Police reported that the man does not have a firearm license.
So, he was cautioned, told of his offences, and then escorted to the Whim Police Station.
Haynes was then placed into custody for driving under the influence of alcohol and unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition.
Investigations are ongoing.
