UPDATE: Trim rode past waiting vehicles and collided with a trailer

A 26-year-old motorcyclist died Sunday night after he collided with a trailer on the McDoom Public Road, East Bank Demerara (EBD).

Dead is Domall Trim, a resident of Bel Air, Georgetown.

The accident occurred around 21:35hrs in the vicinity of the Guyana Shore Base Inc.

Trim collided with motor lorry, GAE 2805, owned by Guyana Shore Base Inc.

Police Headquarters in a statement said preliminary investigation revealed that the lorry was heading east on the public road.

He was being directed by a traffic rank on duty.

“As the lorry approached the public road, the traffic rank at the junction stopped all the vehicles that were proceeding south and north on both carriageways and later gave the driver of the motor lorry directions to proceed east across Mc Doom Public Road,” Police Headquarters explained.

As the driver was crossing the road, police said a group of motorcyclists pulled to the eastern side of the road alongside the stationary vehicles and began to speed, overtaking a line of traffic.

During the process, the Police said Trim’s motorcycle collided with the rear of the motor lorry.

This caused him to fall onto the road surface before skidding into the rear right-side wheel of the lorry.

As a result of the collision, Trim sustained multiple injuries about his body.

He was picked up and taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital where he died while receiving treatment.

His body is currently at the hospital’s mortuary awaiting a post-mortem examination.

Police said the 24-year-old driver of the lorry, Nickell Higgins of Sparendaam Housing Scheme, East Coast Demerara is currently in custody assisting with the investigation.
