Corentyne labourer stabbed to death
A Labourer of Nigg, Corentyne, Berbice was stabbed to death on Friday afternoon by an 18-year-old, also of Nigg.
Carter Baboolall, 48 years old, was reportedly involved in a misunderstanding with the teen, Dave Latchminarine called “fat boy” at around 17:40h.
The News Room understands that the altercation escalated into a scuffle during which Latchminarine, armed with a knife, stabbed Baboolall multiple times on the left side of his body, resulting in fatal injuries. The suspect then fled on foot.
Baboolall was rushed to Port Mourant Public Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival by a doctor.
One eyewitness said he saw villagers pulling Baboolall from a nearby trench after the incident.

Meanwhile, Latchminarine’s mother, Khemrajee Ramcharran, told reporters that she last saw her son on Monday. She explained that around 18:00h on Friday, she was contacted about the incident and went to investigate.
“I find out from them boys that work at the car wash and them say that ‘ fat boy go to pump his bicycle wheel and this guy (Baboolall) ride pass me son then turn back and cuff me son three cuff in he face,” she recounted.
She added that a police officer who was at the wash at attempted to catch the fleeing suspect but was unsuccessful.
Ramcharran added that her son ran away, leaving his slippers behind. She said efforts to locate and contact relatives of Latchminarine have been unsuccessful.
“Me nah even know if dead or alive or where he deh, me can’t say. Me promise the Police officers them as soon as me find her or hear where he deh me go carry he to the station,” Ramcharran revealed.
Police continue their investigation into the incident.
