Most Haitians demand resignation of President Jovenel Moïse

Port-au-Prince, Oct 23 (Prensa Latina) Hundreds of Haitians once again took to the streets of the capital of Haiti to demand the resignation of President Jovenel Moïse, in the sixth consecutive week of anti-government protests.
In several areas of Port-au-Prince, protesters sang songs against the government and criticized that after a month the president insists on maintaining his position, despite his unpopularity.
“The political crisis keeps schools closed,” Sony Paul told Prensa Latina as he marched through the Petion Ville neighborhood.
He added that the country cannot continue like this because in addition to the children, businesses are closed and people begin to lose their jobs.
Since mid-September, Haitians have taken the streets of the country almost daily, calling for a system change that allows 80 percent of the population to be taken out of poverty.
The demonstrations that have been radicalized in the country demand a redistribution of national resources, as well as greater access to employment, education, health and other services.
“For us there is no hope for a better future, because we are getting worse,” Jean Jacques lamented.
Despite the intense mobilization, which keeps the country paralyzed, the head of state avoids speaking of resignation.
‘I am attached to the reforms. I refer, for example, to constitutional reform. I am referring to the reform of the energy sector, to the digitization of public administration, ‘Moïse told Radio Francia Internacional.
According to the head of state, the deep crisis in Haiti must become an opportunity, however, the country needs stability.
