Body found with hands and feet bound under Takutu Bridge
Police in Region Nine (Upper Takutu-Upper Essequibo) have launched an investigation into the suspected murder of an unidentified man whose body was found with the hands and feet bound under the Takutu River Bridge.
Police Headquarters on Thursday noted that the body was found at about 16:00 hrs on Wednesday under the bridge that links Guyana and Brazil.
It was reported that the man’s body was seen propped up on the wall of the concrete bridge clad in a black long-sleeve shirt and black underwear, with his hands and feet tied with a multi-coloured rope.
In addition, the neck was also tied with a cloth suspected to be the victim’s pants.
An inspection of the body revealed marks of violence on the right knee and the neck. The body was removed and escorted to the Lethem Regional Hospital’s mortuary, awaiting identification and a post-mortem examination.
