Motorcyclist dies after crashing into wooden bridge

Mark Paul, a 32-year-old motorcyclist of Pouderoyen, West Bank Demerara (WBD), died on Sunday after he lost control of his motorcycle and crashed into a wooden bridge at the Meten-Meer-Zorg Public Road, West Coast Demerara.

Police Headquarters reported that the incident at about 02:31 hrs.

Paul was reportedly speeding on his motorcycle (#CL 8032) west along the southern side of the road when he lost control and ended up in a trench and then into a wooden bridge. He received injuries to his head and other injuries.

He was picked up by the Police in a semi-conscious condition and taken to the Leonora Cottage Hospital where he was seen and treated for his injuries. He later succumbed to his injuries at about 04:35 hrs Sunday.

The motorcycle was taken to Leonora Police Station where it was lodged to be examined by a Licensing and Certifying Officer. The body of the deceased was escorted to Ezekiel Mortuary for storage, awaiting a Post-Mortem Examination.
