Man held at gunpoint, robbed while heading to work

Lakeram Dyaram, a resident of La Bonne Intention, East Coast Demerara was on Tuesday morning held at gunpoint and robbed by two men on a motorcycle.

The incident occurred while Dyaram, a foreman, was heading to work around 7:45 hrs. On his way to work, he stopped at a local supermarket to make a purchase for his colleagues.

In a CCTV recording, Dyaram can be seen entering the supermarket where one of the suspects was at the time also purchasing an item. The suspect and his ally took time to observe Dyaram as he made his way around the supermarket

Dyaram stated that after completing his transaction, he left and upon arriving at his worksite, the two men held him at gunpoint and robbed him of cash and a cell phone.

Dyaram put up a resistance and suffered minor injuries. The thieves quickly fled the scene.

After fleeing, Dyaram made a report to the Sparendaam Police Station.

Investigations are ongoing.
