Woman, 52, dies after crushed by truck

Limwattie Laljie, a 52-year-old woman, died on Friday afternoon after she was crushed by a motor lorry.
Police said Laljie was riding her motorcycle (#CK 6224) along the Mon Repos Railway, East Coast Demerara (ECD), at about 14:23 hrs Friday. At the same time, motor lorry (#GAE 4563) was driving in the same direction and attempted to overtake the cycle.
A 28-year-old person was driving the lorry owned by a private construction company.
In the process of overtaking, the lorry’s left side tray reportedly collided with the motorcycle. Consequently, the woman fell onto the roadway and soon after, the lorry’s left side rear wheel ran over her head.
She sustained crush injuries to her head.
The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene by Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs). Investigations are ongoing.
