Woman sentenced to three years in jail, fined for cocaine trafficking

A woman was on Friday sentenced to three years in prison and fined $83,250 after pleading guilty to a cocaine trafficking charge at the Weldaad Magistrate’s Court.

Heermattie Dharamdai appeared before Magistrate Shivani Lallram, who read her the charges related to the offence of possession.

The woman admitted to the offence of possession of narcotics for the purpose of trafficking, specifically 55.5 grammes of cocaine.

Following the confession, Magistrate Lallram imposed the three-year custodial sentence along with the fine of $83,250.
