Shotgun seized from Wakapoa man
A shotgun was seized from a Wakapoa villager who is not a licensed firearm holder.
According to a Police release, the firearm was found on Monday at about 23:00hrs during an operation conducted at Wakapoa Village, Lower Pomeroon River, Essequibo.
Ranks went to the home of a 39-year-old chainsaw operator of Woodland, Wakapoa Village, where a search was conducted in the kitchen area of the lower flat. During the search, a suspected single-barrel 12-gauge shotgun was found among some clothing on the floor.
The suspected firearm was retrieved and the occupant, who is not a licensed firearm holder, was subsequently arrested and escorted to the Charity Police Station along with the suspected firearm.
The firearm was lodged pending examination.
The suspect remains in police custody assisting with investigations.
Investigations are ongoing.
