The second race was quite chanceless for Persaud as he led from start to finish, but the final had all the drama and excitement for fans.
It took a superb piece of clinical driving from Persaud to overtake Vieira on the high speeds of turn one early in the race.
From there, it was a cat-and-mouse affair, with Vieira prowling for any slight opening.
However, skillful defensive driving ensured the checkered flag dropped when Persaud crossed the line.
It meant two first places and a second were the rewards of a stellar day of racing for the ENet-powered team.
Unofficially, Persaud leads the 2024 Group Four championship with 68 points, while Vieira ended the day with 61 points, including one first-place and two second-place finishes.

The consistent Shan Seejattan won two out of three Group Two races, Chet Singh won the other, and Jeremy Ten Pow got two firsts and a third in his Rookie class debut.

36-megawatt (MW) powership that will supply extra power to the national grid.
While preparatory works, including the installation of the necessary transmission lines, are ongoing, GPL’s Divisional Director for Engineering Services Ryan Ross said the power company is considering the construction of a new substation at Everton.
“We are also examining the possibility of having a substation installed in this location to give us the kind of flexibility that will allow for a continuous interconnection even if a section of the transmission line is faulted,” Ross said during a recent interview with the Department of Public Information (DPI).

“All preparations are being made to ensure that we have the interconnection facilities in place by May 1 to accommodate the barge,” he said.
GPL has already paid a mobilisation fee of US$1 million to rent the powership and it will pay 6.62 cents per kilowatt hour as a monthly charter fee plus 0.98 cents per kilowatt hour on maintenance, based on electricity generated.
The deal to rent the powership was signed on April 13 with Urbacon Concessions Investments, W.L.L (UCI) to rent the power ship for two years.
In a press release last week, GPL revealed the ship, with a capacity of 36MW, will be operated and maintained by UCI, a subsidiary of UCC Holdings based in Qatar, in collaboration with Karpowership International from Turkey.
Guyana’s Vice President, Dr. Bharrat Jagdeo said there will be no increase in the cost of electricity for consumers even though the services of the powership are being procured to supply emergency power.

“If you have something against me, come after me with all you have… but leave the people out of this,” the President said sternly.
He added, “Do not seek to destroy the lives of ordinary people.”
Dr. Ali explained that he visited the communities, which are home to many members of the Guyanese diaspora, because he wanted to engage people directly. The President further said he aimed to spread his message of ‘One Guyana’ and glean from them whatever ideas or suggestions they might have for the development of Guyana and Guyanese.
And he condemned attempts to sow any division among people, noting that people who purport to be leaders should instead focus on promoting unity and harmony.
The President also responded directly to allegations that the people who engaged him were paid “stooges.”

“To belittle these people, to say they were paid stooges… it is unfair,” Dr. Ali said.
The President called on US officials, including Congressman Hakeem Jeffries, to look into the organisations like the CGID that are engaging in “divisive and separatist” actions.
The President was in New York to receive the Legacy Award Class of 2024 at the American Foundation for the University of the West Indies’ 27th Annual Awards Gala for his “leadership and vision”.
During his time there, he visited the communities and also engaged some officials there.
