road accident on January 8 in Berbice.
Mohamed and Chattergoon represented the Club at all levels, along with Berbice and Guyana at the youth level.
“The news of the horrific deaths of Javid and Harrinarine is very sad and we at the Albion Community Centre Cricket Club would like to express our sincere condolences to their respective families,” said Vemen Walter, the President of the Albion Community Centre Cricket Club.
Javid in his cricketing days with the Club was a highly talented left-handed middle-order batsman, while Harrinarine, the youngest of the Chattergoon brothers, was an exciting opening batsman, who also bowled a very decent off-spin.
Both have played several match-winning innings for Albion over the years, Walter disclosed.
Chattergoon had migrated to Canada a few years ago and was in Guyana on vacation when he met his demised. He was also the youngest of the four Chattergoon brothers (Hemnarine, Sewnarine and Rammarine being the others), all products of Albion.
Sewnarine, the former West Indies opener, is the current Head Coach of Albion.
“Although death is inevitable, it is never easy to lose a loved one; however, we must console ourselves that God knows the best and re-adjust our minds to embrace such situation. We pray that God will grant comfort to the bereaved families during this very difficult period and may the soul of our dear brothers and friends rest in peace,” Walter concluded.
Mohamed was laid to rest last Thursday and Chattergoon, the following day (last Friday), in their home village of Fyrish.
