Love Is Not Normal…Three True Proofs
Whenever I hear the phrase “I Love You” it creates a vivid image of beautiful words flowing from the mouth. It ignites a fire in the mind of the one hearing it, yet can be such a deceiving phrase. Everybody says “I love you” these days, but not everyone really mean it. It is the most used in every marriage relationship. It is so beautiful to hear yet can be so deceiving.
John left home assuring Mary, his wife, that he was going to play ball with guy friends. “I love you honey” was the last thing his wife heard before he closed the door behind him and drove away. John ended up at the gambling hall and lost all the family savings at poker. “I love you” does not lie. Mary was devastated when she found out. “I thought you loved me” she said to John.
The problem in many marriage relationships today is that it so easily rolls off the tongue but so difficult coming from the heart. A heart that is not healed has a hard time showing love. Hurt people hurt people. The truth is, LOVE IS NOT A NORMAL REACTION. Love is not just some word you say to your spouse. Love is more than a voice. Love is intentional, not normal. Love is done and not just said. Love will never happen when tried out from feelings. Feelings are up and down. Love will also be up and down if shown by feelings. The reality is that LOVE IS NOT NORMAL. Love is a sacrificial act that is given to your spouse without any expectation of getting love back. Love is given and not taken. “For God so loved the world that he GAVE his only son” John 3:16. Here are three solid proofs that love is not normal.
Patience Silences The Impatient
Ever noticed you need no effort to be impatient. It just comes naturally. The natural bent is not being able to wait for your spouse to change or not wanting to wait for your marriage to be the way you want it to be. The only thing that will bring you through this difficult season of waiting is LOVE. The reality is that love is patient but patience takes intentionality because love has to be intentional. All else leaves you miserable with yourself and with your spouse. Be intentional to show patience and find peace in the waiting.
Kindness Overcomes Cruelty
Evil is rampant in this world and so it is in many marriages because the heart is not healed in many spouses. An unhealed heart leads to an unhealed marriage which further leads to an unhealed family and society. It is never an easy thing to show kindness to a person who is mean but it is really the only overcoming factor. Being cruel comes from a natural unhealed heart but kindness comes from an intentional heart that says I am going to be kind to my spouse no matter how unkind my spouse is to me because two unkind spouses blows the top in any marriage which further leads to divorce. Be the bigger person and show intentional kindness. Remaining positive in a negative marriage situation is your only source of joy and peace until the situation changes and it will change.
Peace Drowns Out Anger
An angry attitude usually flares up naturally. A husband may step on a wife’s trigger and the wife fires a shot at the husband. Peace is something you must seek or it will not find you. You can find peace in any marital storm by intentionally choosing to find it. No matter how much your spouse may be acting out you control the way you respond. A soft answer TURNS AWAY wrath, but harsh words STIR UP anger, Proverbs 15:1. Choose peace.
Marriage relationships are never automatically great. They become greater the more we choose to be above the normal. The normal will always take you to being angry, impatient and unkind. When both spouses get this reality and strive to put them into practice they experience a marriage made in Heaven on Earth. Michelle and I continue to pray for this very fact to be experienced in our marriage and every other marriage. Huddle up and live.

About 900 residents to benefit from new well at Wauna
A new well, set to benefit approximately 200 households (close to 900 residents) at Wauna in the Mabaruma sub-region of Barima-Waini (Region One), is on track for completion in approximately one month. This development marks a significant step towards providing clean and accessible water to the community and is in keeping with a commitment of President Dr. Mohamed Irfaan Ali.
The Minister of Housing and Water, Collin Croal, visited the well site on Friday afternoon, where he met with the Guyana Water Inc.’s (GWI) Hinterland Services Well Driller, Mr. Joseph Mohanlall and team.
Currently, Wauna has its own distribution network, however, the community relies on the Wanaina Water Supply System for water. During the visit, Minister Croal emphasized the critical role of this well to the community, especially in the dry season.
The Minister explained, “with the increasing dry season that we expect for the rest of the year, this is very much timely for the Mabaruma sub-region […]. For the dry season the hinterland suffers the most because if you’re not getting a source from the river or the creeks then what happens is that for those who are inland; a source of water becomes problematic because they depend mainly on rain water”.
He further stated that the Government has allocated $1.4 billion in 2023 for the Hinterland Water Programme, with plans to drill 40 wells across Regions 1, 7, 8, and 9.
Mr. Mohanlall elaborated on the drilling process at Wauna, highlighting that GWI is drilling an eight-inch rock well, sourcing water from within the fractures of the rocks. Drilling of the well began in August 2023. He noted that some challenges were encountered due to the rock formation and adverse weather conditions, however, the team is on track. Presently, the well has reached a depth of 32 meters and the water company aims to reach at least 50 meters.
Upon completion of the well, two CSOs will be assigned to manage the system in addition to GWI. To further strengthen water services in the sub-region, the Minister announced plans for a new sub-office for GWI, enabling the company to provide more efficient and timely services to communities.
While in the region, the Minister and the Regional Chairman, Mr. Brentnol Ashley also handed over a sewing machine to an elderly resident of Mabaruma, Ms. Genevieve Senanan. The machine will be used to support Ms. Senanan’s livelihood. (CH&PA release)

With play-off qualification already secured, Guyana Amazon Warriors started with attacking intent, opening with Saim Ayub and Odean Smith, who put together 35 runs in the first three overs.
Ayub would then lose his wicket, bringing Hope into the match, who played one of the most memorable innings in CPL history.

Hope’s innings included 17 boundaries and was supported by Kevlon Anderson, making his T20 debut, who would score 47.
Shimron Hetmyer’s late cameo would see the Amazon Warriors finish on 226-7.
Barbados Royals’ chase suffered an early blow as opener Rahkeem Cornwall departed in the third over, while Gudakesh Motie used his variations to dismiss Justin Greaves and Laurie Evans, to leave the Royals 42/3 with the run rate gradually increasing.
Once Rovman Powell was bowled by Imran Tahir the odds became stacked against the Royals, and they were unable to keep up with the required run rate despite a half century from Rivaldo Clarke, finishing on 138-6 and losing by 88 runs.
The result means that the Royals have not qualified for the CPL playoffs.
CPL moves to the playoff stages next week as Guyana Amazon Warriors face Trinbago Knight Riders in Qualifier One, while Saint Lucia Kings take on Jamaica Tallawahs in the Eliminator. (CPL)

Rodrigues was the alleged driver of the car used in the robbery while Kissoon was one of the men who allegedly carried out the crime.
The News Room was reliably informed that both men were arrested at the weekend. Investigators questioned the men and they both confessed to their roles in the robbery that occurred at about 02:40 hrs Saturday.
The three other suspects have been identified as Kelvin Mickle called Joey and Corint Taylor; who both live in Albouystown, Georgetown, and Kevin Allicock. These men are yet to be apprehended.
According to information provided to the News Room, Rogers and his staff secured the building and left for home at around 16:30 hrs Friday.
The building, which is monitored by security cameras, is usually overlooked by a 59-year-old caretaker. At around 02:40 hrs Saturday, however, the caretaker reportedly went to use the washroom but was confronted by two suspects.
Those suspects tied the caretaker’s hands and feet then asked him to lie on the ground.
The bandits then entered the building through a glass window which was partially opened. Based on surveillance footage, they appeared to be armed with a clawbar and they used that to get an office door open. The safe was kept in that office.
The bandits then used a trolley and placed the safe in a waiting motorcar before making good their escape.

Subsequently, the caretaker managed to untie himself and raised an alarm. When the Police were informed, investigations commenced.
The News Room was told that investigators, acting on information received, went to the Melanie Back Road, East Coast Demerara, where they arrested Rodrigues.
He was questioned and admitted to being part of the planning and execution of the robbery. He also implicated the three suspects who carried out the robbery.
The News Room was also informed that Rodrigues told the Police that he dropped off his three accomplices at Meadow Bank wharf following the robbery. There, he said they opened the safe and upon seeing the firearms, they got scared and left them in the safe. He denied receiving any cash from the robbery.
Ranks later went to William Street, Kitty, where Kissoon was arrested. At the time of his arrest, he was in a wagon motor car that was used to transport the safe with the items from the scene.
Kissoon also admitted to being part of the robbery and supported Rodrigues’ account of what transpired. However, he told the Police that he threw the safe in the river.
Further investigations were, however, conducted and ranks went to Sussex Street, Albouystown where they recovered four firearms in a white salt bag near a lamp post in the grass.
Checks were made for the other suspects but they were not located. Meanwhile, the firearms found were lodged and the men were placed in custody as the investigation continues.
