Les forces armées d’Haïti (FADH) évoluent en katimini ou derrière les rideaux dans l’effort sécuritaire. Entre autre tâche les soldats du Corps du génie appuient les policiers dans les démolitions de maisonnettes utilisées comme postes de tir par les gangs.
Les FADH ne sont pas autorisées à réaliser seules des opérations.Interrogée sur le sujet la ministre de la justice et de la sécurité publique, Mme Emilie Prophète Milcé, a fait valoir que l’armée est toujours embryonnaire, donc ne disposant pas de soldats et d’équipement suffisants.
Cependant elle réitère la promesse d’un retour effectif de l’armée.
Le pays a été fondé par l’armée, l’armée doit revenir, a dit Mme Milcé à l’émission Le Point de télé Métropole, sans fixer un échéancier.Toutefois le plan sécuritaire n’envisage pas une autonomie des FADH. En effet le gouvernement est dans l’attente d’une force étrangère qui devra aider la PNH à combattre les gangs.
En début de semaine le directeur du cabinet du ministre de la défense, M. Harry Toussaint, avait également promis un retour au premier plan des militaires sans fixer de date.

Les États -Unis accueillent des milliers de migrants haïtiens
De nombreux voyageurs sont remarqués au cours des dernières semaines à l’aéroport international Toussaint Louverture de Port-au-Prince. Il s’agit des bénéficiaires du programme humanitatian parole.
Les vols à destination des États Unis sont bondés. Interrogé par un journaliste de radio Métropole, Rivers Dunac, nombre de migrants ont expliqué qu’ils sont contraints de fuir le pays en raison de la grave détérioration du climat sécuritaire. Hier lundi 10 juillet 2023, quatre jeunes d’une famille de Petit Goave (Ouest) ont pris l’avion afin de rejoindre leurs parents.
Ils envisagent d’étudier et de travailler afin de changer leur condition de vie .Ils entendent respecter le programme et revenir dans leur pays natale si le programme n’est pas renouvelé après les deux ans.
Une jeune fille confie qu’elle a bouclé ses études classiques mais ne peut trouver des débouchés.Plus de 40 000 haïtiens ont été approuvés dans le programme Humanitarian Parole, a révélé un officiel américain en début de semaine.
Les migrants, qui ont été approuvés en mai 2023, avaient rempli les formalités depuis janvier.Les autorités américaines avaient confirmé une certaine lenteur dans le traitement des dossiers. Toutefois les responsables de l’immigration américaine avaient donné la garantie que tous les dossiers seront traités. Les requérants ne doivent pas formuler une nouvelle demande mais s’armer de patience durant le processus.

First Jamaican NYPD Borough Commander Ruel Stephenson To Be Honored at Jamaica Independence Gala
Newly-minted Jamaican police chief Ruel Stephenson is among the list of honorees for the Jamaica Independence Gala New York to be held on 19 August 2023 at the New York Hilton Midtown hotel.
Other honorees include Chairman of Pan Jamaica Group Limited, Stephen Facey, board-certified Dermatologist and Medical Director of Ingleton Dermatology, Dr. Rosemarie Ingleton, and Jamaican-born business leader and writer, Dr. Marlon Lindsay.
Supporting Jamaicans at Home
The Jamaica Independence Gala New York is an annual fundraising event to support charitable causes that have a positive impact on Jamaicans. This year, the organization aims to offer financial support to a number of initiatives. These include the awarding of 30 scholarships to students pursuing higher education. These scholarships aim to empower individuals by helping them achieve their academic and career goals.
The Gala will extend support to the procurement of pacemakers for young children who require critical medical care and three local charities: The YB Afraid Foundation established by Jamaican athlete Yohan Blake, the Rose Town Foundation, and the Enos Barrett Centre for Rehabilitation located in Linstead, St. Catherine.

PALAS To Award 75 Scholarships to Jamaican High School and University Students
Despite challenges, Peace and Love Academics Scholarship (PALAS) Inc. remains committed to providing scholarships to deserving students. This year, the focus is on awardees who have maintained excellent grades, with the aim of granting 75 scholarships.
Welcomes New Sponsors
Ruel ‘Rula’ Brown, the founder, expressed his heartbreak over not being able to assist all those in need but remains optimistic for the future. PALAS Inc. relies solely on funds raised or donated, with 97% of the funds going towards scholarships and the remaining 3% used for the annual award ceremony.
The COVID-19 pandemic has affected the organization’s main sponsors, resulting in a drop in donations. However, Brown hopes that new sponsors will come forward before the July 31 deadline. Donations can be made through PayPal, Cashapp, or Zelle.
PALAS Inc. also offers the opportunity for collaboration through Partnering with PALAS (PWP), where donors can designate a personal scholarship in the name of a loved one or a business.

The training centres are being built under the Board of Industrial Training.
“It is the first time the Board of Industrial Trading will be constructing and erecting their own training facilities,” Hamilton said.
“We are building a training facility not a residential building. We have to build this building and the training rooms to the standard of the CVQ [otherwise] its useless we build a training facility. We have to build a facility that is at the level of the Caribbean,” Minister Hamilton said.
Region Six is currently the focus of massive transformation and according to the minister, these centres will provide specialised training with modern equipment to qualify persons.
While these new buildings are being constructed, the minister said that there will be upgrades to other facilities across the country. He pointed out that the Unity, East Coast Demerara training facility will soon be equipped to upskill and qualify persons who are involved in technical fields with certification.

“My fear is that we might be building buildings here where the contract stipulates that unless the contractor is unaccredited he cannot come to work here and therefore they bring someone from Philippines to put in the toilet bowl and I don’t want that,” Minister Hamilton said.
He also thanked the municipalities of each areas for making the land available for the ministry.
In addition, the minister pointed out that Perba is a woman-led business and he said that he was pleased about this as BIT and the ministry continues to encourage women to participate in the hard skills sector.
