(Reuters) U.S. President Donald Trump on Saturday said that a “very successful attack” on three nuclear sites in Iran had been successfully carried out, including at Fordow.
In a posting on Truth Social, Trump added, “All planes are safely on their way home” and he congratulated “our great American Warriors.”
Trump ended his posting saying, “Now is the time for peace.”
The action came as Israel and Iran have been engaged in more than a week of aerial combat that has resulted in deaths and injuries in both countries.
Israel launched the attacks on Iran saying that it wanted to remove any chance of Tehran developing nuclear weapons.
Iran has argued that its nuclear program is intended for peaceful purposes.

A family of six is now urgently exploring their next steps after a devastating fire destroyed their home on Saturday morning.
Rawle Thomas, a butcher and farmer from D’ Edward Village, West Bank Berbice, told reporters that he was working in the backdam when tragedy struck. Thomas lived in the house with his mother, wife, and three children.
The man said he received the alarming news around 11:30 hrs and rushed to the scene, only to find the house engulfed in flames.
The Onverwagt Fire Station was contacted, and firefighters managed to contain the blaze, preventing it from spreading to a nearby mall. Sections of the nearby building and some windows were still damaged, however.

Thomas emphasised that crucial documents and many personal belongings were destroyed in the fire.

The Sexual Offences and Domestic Violence Policy Unit, through the Ministry of Human Services and Social Security, launched its BRAVE (Build your legacy, Reclaim manhood, Activate goals, Visualise success, and Execute fearlessly) Men’s Policy on Friday.
The BRAVE Men’s Policy – Bridging the Gap: Positively Engaging Men and Boys in GBV Prevention, Healing, and Accountability is a new national framework aimed at involving men and boys in efforts to prevent gender-based violence (GBV) while promoting emotional well-being and personal responsibility.
Positioned as a proactive and inclusive approach, the policy encourages men and boys to reflect on traditional gender norms and redefine concepts of manhood in ways that prioritise emotional intelligence, accountability, and community leadership. It seeks to shift the narrative by moving away from portrayals of men solely as perpetrators or at-risk individuals and instead highlights their potential role as positive agents of change.

Beyond GBV prevention, the BRAVE programme promotes healing, legacy building, and the empowerment of men and boys. It does not seek to police masculinity, but rather expand it, allowing men and boys to redefine strength.
Delivering the feature address at the launch was Minister of Human Services and Social Security, Dr. Vindhya Persaud, who emphasised the relevance and importance of such a policy.
“We see gender-based violence rearing its head again and again, and when it comes to the fore, lives are lost. We have seen the statistics. And, while we see that those statistics show that men are disproportionately the perpetrators of violence, equally so, we must understand the backstory to that.
“And, that is why this is more than a policy. This is transformational. And, this is not just a national policy that remains as I have it here on paper. It has been carefully thought out and crafted to ensure that it’s comprehensive, it is inclusive… inclusive because, in the crafting of this policy, many many men from all walks of life would’ve been consulted and engaged to ensure what we have crafted appeals to men for every walk of life. What we have crafted would not only appeal to them, but empower them.”
Minister Persaud further said, “What we are endeavouring to do is to change what we have known, what we have lived, what we would’ve experienced, and what we would see from time to time in the media or in living colour.
“We cannot build a nation without men. And, we must recognise that men are equally important as women as we counter violence. We cannot see one without the other. We cannot see one as a problem and the other as a solution. We need to see both as solutions to an issue that has been embedded, not only nationally, but globally, in families and communities for eons.”
The BRAVE Men’s policy is constructed around five interlinked objectives:
1. Challenge Harmful Cultural Norms
2. Foster Healing and Accountability
3. Promote Inclusive Engagement
4. Strengthen Institutional Responses
5. Empower Communities
It identifies two main age groups for targeted engagement; however others will not be excluded.
1. Ages 16 – 24: Boys and young men in the formative stages of identity development and socialisation.
2. Ages 25 – 35: Men navigating adulthood, relationships, fatherhood, and community roles.
Within these age groups, the policy outlines five core categories of engagement:
1. Men and Boys in General
2. Boys and Young Men in Early Socialisation
3. Intimate Partner Violence (IPV) Offenders
4. Non-Violent IPV Offenders

Guyana’s President Dr. Irfaan Ali on Friday night revealed that the government is developing a new industrial, manufacturing, and agro-processing hub that will help small farmers and business owners produce quality food and food products that can be exported globally.
“One of the things that we are going to do is that we will build an industrial manufacturing agro-processing hub with the shell completely outfitted so that we can have these entities placed in an world class facility from day one so they will be operating with certain standards from day one,” President Ali said at the commissioning of the World Trade Centre Georgetown on Friday night.
This trade centre, the first-of-its-kind in the CARICOM region- is expected to boost trade relations and position Guyana as a key player in global commerce.
The Guyanese Head of State said this venture aligns well with the government’s plan to rapidly expand the local economy, empower more citizens to pursue lucrative business opportunities, and increase trade.
The creation of the new hub, he explained, is one emerging opportunity for locals that can enjoy support from the trade centre. The World Trade Centre Georgetown can help with leveraging financing, supporting networking efforts, or even help market local products, Dr. Ali posited.
Expanding on the new hub, the President highlighted that the government is getting support from Bloomberg Grains to readily market local agricultural produce and other products internationally, while also helping Guyana adhere to foreign regulations for export and infusing the technology needed to boost production. The company is also expected to integrate food production in Guyana with Brazil and the Caribbean.
“Everybody will be part of this ecosystem that will be bringing all the input,” Dr. Ali said.
The President mentioned the Bloomberg Grains arrangement earlier this month, noting that the venture will help to brand and market the new food hub at Yarrowkabra on the Soesdyke-Linden Highway.
The Health Ministry on Friday launched new tools- the Life After Stroke and Amputee handbooks, and a mobile app- that are expected to provide much-needed support to caregivers, patients, and healthcare providers.
These tools were launched as part of Rehab Week 2025, which is being celebrated under the theme “From rehab to reliance, re-empowering recovery through movement and strength.”
The new tools are expected to go fully into use next week; they were developed to help empower individuals who undergo rehabilitation services.

Each handbook, for example, will help persons understand how to prepare for and deal with a stroke and what aftercare support is needed. Then there is the Guyana Rehab App, which will be available for download on the Play Store and App Store.

“This is about improving access and helping people to get the help they need faster.
“This app is a simple but powerful digital platform that puts information, appointment access resources directly into the patient’s hands,” Mangar said.

Health Minister Dr. Frank Anthony also said that the tools are great initiatives that will improve access to healthcare.
And he encouraged people to take their healthcare seriously and use medications as recommended. He said heart conditions and diabetes are linked to complications that cause strokes and others that lead to amputation of limbs.
“Conditions like diabetes, hypertension, heart disease so that once we manage them properly, we prevent these types of outcomes where people might have the complications of these diseases,” Dr. Anthony said.

More than 70 representatives from emergency service agencies, businesses, and tourism organizations took part in the half-day session. The goal was simple: build private-public partnerships now to enhance Guyana’s resiliency after a disaster strikes.

Tropical has held annual disaster preparedness workshops throughout the Caribbean for more than 25 years. The sessions focus on how communities can develop recovery plans so businesses, schools, and governments can resume operations after a major hurricane or event.

More than a week after she was last seen, 48-year-old Jenny Mohammed was found dead in a garbage bag that was wrapped in a tarpaulin.
The woman’s dead body was found on Thursday, June 19. Police have arrested her husband, daughter and son-in-law as the probe into her alleged murder unfolds.

The News Room understands that Jenny was allegedly brutally stabbed to death at her house. The trio then reportedly placed her body in a garbage bag, and wrapped the body bag in a tarpaulin before dumping it.
A rope was also tied to Mohammed’s neck, and her body bore multiple stab wounds, the News Room was told.
Mohammed was reported missing by her relatives on June 10, 2025. After a missing person’s report was lodged, the News Room was told that the Police went to the house where they found a substance suspected to be blood.
So, Mohammed’s reputed husband, her daughter, and her son-in-law were taken into custody.

Crime Chief Wendell Blanhum confirmed the suspects’ arrests. He said an investigation was ongoing. During the probe, investigators, acting on information received, were taken to the new Eccles, East Bank Demerara road, leading to Ogle East Coast Demerara, the suspects, and Mohammed’s body was recovered.
The News Room was informed that during questioning, Mohammed’s daughter and her husband (that is, Mohammed’s son-in-law) admitted that they devised a plan to kill her. They reportedly said the woman was abusive.
Investigators have since recovered the murder weapon, a knife.
First Lady Mrs Arya Ali and other officials on Friday commissioned Zia’s Play Park, a recreational haven developed under her National Beautification Project.
The project was a collaboration between the Office of the First Lady, the Ministry of Public Works and the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Guyana.
The new park, which is located in Leonora, WCD, is outfitted with play amenities for children, a gazebo, washroom facilities, comfortable seating, lighting, and a variety of fruit trees.
Zia’s Play Park will serve as a vital communal hub for several villages across the West Coast, offering families a safe and scenic place to relax, socialize, and exercise.
Speaking at a simple commissioning ceremony, First Lady Arya Ali reminded the gathering that while true development can be measured by new roads and bridges, it also encompasses an improved quality of life for citizens.
“Each time we open a new park or public space, it reminds us that apart from roads, bridges, and big buildings, development is also about creating spaces where our children and people can relax, feel safe, and enjoy a better quality of life,” she said.

The National Beautification Project, led by the Office of the First Lady, has already transformed nine public spaces across the country into thriving parks and recreational areas. With eight more currently under development, the initiative is reshaping the physical and social landscape of communities by promoting environmental sustainability, social cohesion, and healthy lifestyles.
“…as a government we have placed great emphasis on ensuring that our citizens build stronger bonds with each other. That’s the real beauty of public spaces; they bring us closer as families, as
neighbours and as a nation,” the First Lady added.

As she closed her remarks, the First Lady issued a plea to the residents of Leonora and neighboring villages to ensure they properly manage the facility and guard against vandalism and destruction which have been observed at other public venues across the country.
“I hope it brings joy to your children, peace to your families, and pride to the community. Please take care of it. Guard against vandalism and destruction which we have seen at so many of our
public spaces. We want our children to continue to enjoy these amenities, so you have the duty to ensure this park is taken care of,” Mrs Ali stressed.
She also encouraged residents to “keep working together as we continue to build a Guyana where development feels personal, where beauty is part of everyday life, and where our communities always have a place to grow and thrive.”
Chinese Ambassador Yang Yang also delivered remarks at the ceremony, emphasizing the warm and friendly relations between Guyana and China. She noted too that China is proud to be supporting Guyana’s development through a number of projects and programmes, including Zia’s Play Park.
