Les dangereux criminels se regroupant sous le label “Viv Ansanm” ont entamé une campagne de démolition des commissariats de la zone métropolitaine de Port-au-Prince. Visiblement, ces bandits craignent l’arrivée de la force multinationale de soutien à la police nationale, et veulent éliminer les sites devant servir éventuellement de base aux officiers dans le cadre de la mission qui vise à les neutraliser.
Ayant pris d’assaut des institutions étatiques, notamment des commissariats de la zone métropolitaine, les bandits ont redoublé de cruauté depuis le 29 février dernier. Ils ont même provoqué l’évasion de plus de 3000 prisonniers. D’autres commissariats et sous-commissariats ont été incendiés, des matériels emportés et des policiers chassés.
Depuis la mise en branle de cette machine logistique pour le transport des matériels de combat au profit de la PNH, préparant ainsi l’arrivée de la mission multinationale, les bandits se livrent dans une opération de démolition de prison et des commissariats.
Entre vrendredi 17 et jeudi 23 mai 2023, plusieurs prisons et commissariats sont réduits en décombres. Le 18 mai, le jour du 221e anniversaire de la commémoration du drapeau haïtien, la bande à Lanmò San Jou a détruit la prison civile de la Croix-des-Bouquets à l’aide d’engins lourds. Les vidéos étaient devenues virales sur les réseaux sociaux.
Au niveau de la Plaine, les bandits ont démoli un Sous-commissariat établi à Corail Cesselesse. Le malfrats ne s’arrêtent pas depuis. Ils ont quasiment démoli le commissariat de Martissant, d’ailleurs qu’ils contrôlent depuis tantôt 3 ans.
Sous le regard impuissant de la PNH, ces bandits finiront peut-être par démolir tous les locaux abritant les commissariats et les sous-commissariats dans l’optique de donner du fil à retordre à la mission multinationale de soutien à la sécurité.
Dans la foulée, des membres de la société civile de l’Artibonite ont lancé un SOS aux autorités haïtiennes pour éviter une autre catastrophe. Il s’agit des informations relatives à la volonté des bandits de cette région qui entendent détruire le palais aux 365 portes car, selon eux, ce monument historique pourrait servir de base aux officiers de la mission multinationale.

Home boy Brandon King, captaining in place of Rovman Powell, set the tone with an aggressive 45-ball 79. He also shared in a 79-run second-wicket partnership with Kyle Mayers, who is not in the T20 World Cup squad.
King was the mainstay as West Indies built a healthy platform with scores of 64-1 in the Powerplay and 109-1 at the halfway stage, but they lost 6-40 between the 14th and final over to finish on 175-8.
South Africa will have been encouraged with their bowling comeback, especially the early signs from Ottneil Baartman. On T20I debut, Baartman dismissed Johnson Charles early on but then pulled up in his delivery stride after 10 balls, with what looked like a left knee niggle.
However, he completed the over and went on to take 3-26. All-rounder Andile Phehlukwayo also finished with three wickets in his quota of four overs.
South Africa’s much talked-about top order was reduced to 35-3 in the fifth over and neither Quinton de Kock nor Ryan Rickelton made it into double figures with the latter struggling to find the boundary.
While West Indies hit seven fours and eight sixes in the first 10 overs, South Africa scored eight fours and one six.
South Africa needed 99 runs off the last 10 overs and though Reeza Hendricks went on a career-best 87 off 51 balls, his surge came too late. Gudakesh Motie‘s 3-25 and Obed McCoy‘s 2-15 meant South Africa were too far behind and eventually dismissed for 147 in the final over.
King Brandon
On his home ground, and in his first match as an international captain, King dominated South Africa upfront and set the tone for West Indies comeback to Sabina Park.
He enjoyed the bulk of the strike in the first three overs and capitalised on that. He faced 16 out of 18 balls and scored 28, including three fours and two sixes.
By contrast, Charles, only saw two balls and had not scored a run. Charles became Baartman’s first international wicket, but King went on to record his fastest T20I fifty off 26 balls and was closing in on his highest score in a display headlined by innovative movement at the crease which included exposing his stumps.
Phehlukwayo eventually benefitted from King making room, when he sent down a full, wide ball that King had to reach for, and toe-ended it to van der Dussen, who ran to his right from the covers.
King was dismissed at the end of the 11th over for 79, six fewer than his T20I career best.
West Indies’ middle order gives way
After King’s start, West Indies should have been eyeing a total above 200, but their middle order was unable to back up their stand-in captain’s start. No-one from Andre Fletcher down was able to get into double figures and Matthew Forde’s 5 was the highest score outside the top four.
Fletcher and Fabian Allen were guilty of trying to play Phehlukwayo across the line and were bowled and trapped lbw respectively, while Akeal Hosein and Forde were deceived by Baartman’s variations.
Hosein was bowled by a wobble seam delivery and Forde pulled a knuckle ball square of the wicket. Motie’s run-out in the final over meant West Indies lost 6-40 in the final third of their innings.
Forde’s first
After figures of 0-54 in his first T20I, against England last December, Forde may have wondered if he was due to chase leather again when de Kock hit his first ball for four. It was a remarkably timed shot, with no footwork at all, as de Kock struck Forde straight down the ground.
But the young West Indian had the perfect riposte. His next delivery was wide of off stump, de Kock neglected to move his feet again and nicked behind. De Kock’s dismissal for four meant that he has only crossed fifty three times in 30 innings, all in T20s, since his ODI retirement last November and has a top score of 12 from his last five trips to the crease.
Another Hendricks half-century
Hendricks controversially missed out on a spot in South Africa’s starting XI at the 2022 T20 World Cup despite scoring four fifties in succession in the lead-up because he could not displace captain Temba Bavuma.
But there should be no reason for him not to start the tournament this time. His 87 was his 10th T20 half-century of 2024 and 49th in his career and was the standout knock in a disappointing South African batting performance.

murder of Corentyne welder Joshua Hardatt called ‘Money’ confessed to the crime and reportedly told the Police that the victim had an affair with his wife some time ago.
This was confirmed by Crime Chief Wendell Blanhum who also told the News Room that the suspect remains in Police custody as the probe continues.
The suspect was recently released from prison; he was jailed after he wounded someone else.
According to information reliably provided to the News Room, the suspect was questioned in relation to the crime and he told investigators that Hardatt allegedly had an affair with his (the suspect’s) wife while he was in prison.
The suspect also reportedly told the Police that he confronted Hardatt about the affair; Hardatt reportedly denied the allegation.
As such, the suspect said he became angry and dealt Hardatt several blows about his body.
Hardatt, a resident of Bloomfield Village, Corentyne Berbice, was murdered sometime between 18:00 hrs on Tuesday and 08:00 hrs on Wednesday at Auchlyne Cultivating Dam.
Police Headquarters reported that Hardatt left his residence with his silver-grey Toyota Premio motor car, PAD 1612 and went to an unknown destination.
At about 09:00 hrs relatives received a call that the car was seen on the dam. The Police were informed and the scene was visited.
Hardatt’s body was found motionless, lying face down in a crouching position in the back passenger seat of his car with marks of violence to his face forehead, and a wound to the back of the head.
His body was escorted to Ramoo Funeral home and is awaiting a post-mortem examination.
Ali Khan played the starring role as USA fought their way to a T20I series win over Bangladesh at home, going up 2-0 in the three-match series in Texas on Thursday. His three-wicket haul helped USA to a six-run win in the second game after they had won the first game courtesy Harmeet Singh’s big hitting.
USA bowled superbly in the death overs with Ali Khan picking up all his three wickets in that period, while Saurabh Netravalkar took one in the 19th over.
On Tuesday, when USA won the first game, it was their first win over a top-ten T20I side. This time, they went one step further. It will be a huge boost for the team ahead of the T20 World Cup next month.
For Bangladesh, it’s a cricketing disaster.
They couldn’t get the 145-run chase on track from the start. They lost two wickets inside the powerplay before a rush of wickets following a 48-run stand between captain Najmul Hossain Shanto and Towhid Hridoy. Shakib Al Hasan tried to get them home but Ali Khan removed him in the 18th over to get USA back in the game.
Rishad Hossain led Bangladesh’s efficient bowling effort after they decided to bowl first. He took 2-21, his best and most economical spell in T20Is, while Mustafizur Rahman and Shoriful Islam also took two each. USA captain Monank Patel top scored with 42, while his deputy Aaron Jones got 35, but the home side couldn’t take advantage of a decent Powerplay.
USA make inroads
In the chase, Netravalkar gave USA the early breakthrough they wanted defending a smallish total. He caught and bowled Soumya Sarkar, who feebly pushed the fourth ball of the innings back to the bowler. Tanzid Hasan hit a six off Ali Khan, before tickling a boundary off Steven Taylor in the fourth over. Tanzid, however, threw away his good start when he was bowled attempting to pull a delivery from Jessy Singh that wasn’t short enough for the shot.
After that, Shanto and Hridoy, who made a fifty in the first game, added 48 runs for the third wicket. Hridoy and Shanto struck Harmeet for a six each in the tenth over, both hitting the ball relatively straight.
But Shanto and Hridoy got into a mix-up in the 11th over and Shanto was left stranded in the middle of the pitch. Corey Anderson then bowled Hridoy in the 13th over for 25 off 21 balls before Shadley van Schalkwyk did the same to Mahmudullah in the 15th over.
Ali Khan swings it USA’s way
Shakib survived a run-out attempt at the start of the 16th over when the point fielder couldn’t hit the stumps even as Shakib struggled to reach the striker’s end. He shook it off by timing two superb fours off Jessy later in the over, first through point and then tickled past third.
Bangladesh’s joy, however, was shortlived. Jaker Ali fell to van Schalkwyk before Shakib followed him back next ball. Batting on 30, Shakib chopped an away-going delivery from Ali Khan on to his stumps, leaving the tail to finish the job. Ali Khan then trapped Tanzim Hasan lbw for a duck just one ball later, to put USA well and truly on top.

Rishad slammed Ali Khan for a one-bounce four at the end of the 18th over to keep Bangladesh in the hunt but Netravalkar bowled Shoriful in the penultimate over. Mustafizur took a single off the last ball of the over, before running a bye at the start of the last over.
