Dr. Anthony said a doctor will visit the centre intermittently. The new facility is also in keeping with the government’s aim of delivering over 200 health services at community health centres. Dr. Anthony also noted that three other health centres will be constructed in Region Six this year. Meanwhile, Regional Chairman David Armogan said this the establishment of these health centres are necessary to reduce the patient burden at the New Amsterdam Regional Hospital. With more persons seeking care at facilities in their communities, he believes that patients in serious need will get to access the specialised services at the regional hospital much faster.
