Taxi driver arrested on Linden Highway with 64lbs of ‘ganja’

Linden Solomon, a 56-year-old taxi driver is now in police custody after he was allegedly found with 64 lbs of suspected cannabis during a roadblock exercise on the Soesdyke/Linden Highway yesterday at about 6.30 am.

A police press release stated that yesterday a party of police was conducting a roadblock exercise on the Highway in the vicinity of the Highway Patrol Base when they stopped a motor car # PAC 1266 which was being driven by Solomon of Blueberry Hill, Linden.

As a result, the driver was informed by ranks that they would like to conduct a search on the said motor vehicle and he complied. Upon doing so the ranks found one black plastic bag containing three large transparent parcels, another black plastic bag containing 4 large transparent parcels, and one grey duffle bag containing 3 large transparent parcels, all containing a quantity of leaves, seeds and stems suspected to be cannabis.

Solomon was told of the offence committed when he was arrested and then escorted to the Timehri Police Station, the suspected cannabis was weighed in his presence and it amounted to 64 lbs. Solomon was then escorted to the Regional Police Divisional Headquarters 4B for further investigations to be carried out.
