The certification will see products produced by Banks DIH Limited outfitted with the ‘Made in Guyana’ seal.

Banks DIH Limited is the producers of wines, bread, beer, ice cream, snacks and water.

Executive Director of the Guyana Manufacturing and Services Association (GMSA), Nizam Hassan said, over the years, the manufacturing sector has been expanding and there has been further development of small manufacturing enterprises.

“As our economy continues to evolve and as consumers become more resounding about products they consume and as the marketplace becomes more competitive, certification of products becomes imperative,” Hassan said.

“Consumers need to be assured that the products they are buying have met the standards set up by regulatory bodies,” he added.

At the same time, Hassan said consumer education is equally important.

The ‘Made in Guyana’ seal aims to promote recognition of Guyanese local content on international markets and become synonymous with quality. It was launched in October 2021.
