Gold miner shot while out with family in Albouystown
Police are investigating a shooting incident which has left a 27-year-old gold miner with a gunshot wound to his left thigh after two men allegedly pounced on him at Sussex Street, Albouystown, Georgetown.
Police Headquarters said the incident occurred around 16:40 hrs Tuesday.
At the time, Kerol Atthon of Vigilance South, East Coast Demerara had just dropped off his wife and one-year-old son at a photo studio in the community.
They were going to do a photoshoot for his son’s birthday.
Police said after the family arrived at the photo studio, Atthon parked and went to purchase some beverages for his family.
While he was returning, Police said he was approached by two men, one of whom was armed with a gun.
The armed suspect then shot the victim and they both escaped.
Atthon was taken to the Woodlands Hospital and was later transferred to the Georgetown Public Hospital. His condition is listed as stable.
