Two die in Long Creek accident

Police Headquarters said the driver of the car, who has been identified as 25-year-old Hubert James of lot 39 West Watooka, Wismar, Linden, is presently in custody assisting with the investigation.

According to a Police report, enquiries revealed that the motorcycle was heading south along the eastern side of the public road while the car was heading in the same direction.

Police said James alleged that the motorcycle which had no rear lights, swerved west.

Upon seeing this, Police said James claimed that he applied brakes but due to the short distance, the car collided with the motorcycle.

As a result, both Mohamed and Boodna fell onto the road and received injuries about their bodies, including their heads.

They were picked up in an unconscious condition and taken to the Linden Hospital where they were pronounced dead.

The News Room spoke to Boodna’s cousin Sonia Williams. She said the men were heading to a shop in the area when tragedy struck.

She alleged that the car was speeding.

“They was heading out from Long Creek Red road, going down the hill when a car just run into them, speeding…really speeding,” Williams said.

Williams learnt of the accident after receiving a call from a villager.

“Is a small village…I went (to the scene). Ryan died on the spot and Shazeer was on the way to the hospital and the car and the bike was on the road together,” she told the News Room.

Police said James was subject to a breathalyser test but no trace of alcohol was found on his breath.
