Taxi driver, 27, arrested after robbing two women

Quincy Barker, a 27-year-old taxi driver of Timehri, East Bank Demerara (EBD), was arrested on Friday, about two weeks after he attacked and robbed two women.

Police Headquarters reported that Barker robbed the women- Maria Rodriquez Caballero and Sheyla Toledo Rodriquez – on July 8 at the Providence Access Road, EBD.

On Friday, however, a Police Officer from the Acquero Police station made contact with the suspect who was told of the allegation, cautioned and arrested at Kwebanna Village, North West District in Region One (Barima- Waini).

He was escorted to the Police Regional Division Headquarters 4’B’ where a video/audio interview was conducted and he later admitted to the crime, Police said.

The man, however, denied using a firearm and instead said he committed the crime using an ice pick.
