Suspect remanded for deadly shooting in West Ruimvedlt

fatally shot during a brawl over a West Ruimvedlt, Georgetown property and was remanded to prison.

LaRose of Kuru Kururu, Linden Soesdyke Highway, appeared before Chief Magistrate (ag), Sherdel Isaacs-Marcus at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts.

It is alleged that on August 10, while in the company of others, LaRose murdered Horsham. He was not required to enter a plea to the indictable charge and was remanded to prison. The case was adjourned to September 7, 2023.

The News Room understands that LaRose was among the group of six men, one of whom allegedly opened fire, fatally wounding Horsham.

One of Horsham’s relative, Corwyne Abraham, a 38-year-old taxi driver from Charlestown, was also injured during the incident which occurred at around 16:50 hrs at Lot 430 West Ruimveldt, Georgetown.

Police Commander, Simon McBean told the News Room that LaRose was charged since there was sufficient evidence linking him to the crime. McBean said as the investigation continues, Police are pursuing several other suspects in relation to the crime.

Among those wanted is Majesty Anthony Fernandes.

Information revealed that Fernandes has been in the United States (US) since June. And in providing clarification, the Guyana Police Force said he is wanted in relation to the murder since he is the owner of the silver Chevy Silverado Pickup, GLL 7950 that was allegedly used in the crime.
