Murder suspect arrested
Mark Anthony Mohan, the man who was wanted in connection with the murder of 29-year-old Bharrat Gendalall, was on Wednesday arrested by the Police.
Police Headquarters confirmed that ranks from Region Three acted on information received and arrested Mohan at around 14:00 hrs in Georgetown.
He is currently in custody at the Wales Police Station and is said to be assisting with the investigation.
The development comes one day after the Guyana Police Force (GPF) issued a wanted bulletin for 25-year-old Mohan, who is the prime suspect in relation to the crime.
The incident occurred around 19:45 hrs.
According to information reaching the News Room, upon returning home from work, Gendalall called ‘Premash’ of Clay Brick Road, was sitting in his yard imbibing alcohol with his brother-in-law and a friend.
Sometime after, he went to urinate across the road from his house when a car, allegedly driven by Mohan, approached with a bright light and stopped.
The News Room understands that the driver exited the car and an argument ensued between him and Gendalall during which Gendalall cuffed him.
The suspect then entered his car and drove away.
Gendalall subsequently went into his yard but the car returned and stopped in front of his house. This time, six men came out, five of whom were masked.
It is alleged that they invaded the victim’s yard and attacked him during which he was stabbed to his left upper chest.
