En route to Suriname, family vehicle bursts into flames

A Toyota Noah vehicle, PC 7428, caught on fire with a family inside who were returning to neighboring Suriname Wednesday morning at about 8:30 hrs.

The vehicle was being driven by Dinesh Chotkoe, a 45-year-old  of Letterhoutstraat 461 Nickerie, Suriname.

According to a statement from Police Headquarters, Simon Gray of Liverpool Village said he was driving behind the vehicle when he noticed fire emanating from under the car.

Gray reportedly drove alongside the vehicle and warned the driver who then stopped and exited the vehicle with his family. The vehicle completely engulfed in flames minutes later.

Information received from persons in the area indicated that while the vehicle was in the vicinity of Lancaster Village, traveling along the public road in an eastern direction.

Chotkoe told police that he came to Guyana on September 08 with his family and they were traveling from Georgetown to Suriname when the incident occurred. No injuries were reported.
