12% increase in arrivals for Cricket Carnival events – CJIA

Passengers arriving at the CJIA earlier in September.

In early August 2023, the CJIA revealed that it had processed 50,000 more passengers in 2023 compared to last year.

The 405,000 passengers processed in 2023 is 14% higher than in 2022, the airport CEO said.

Ghir further noted that as the country continues to witness the growth of the annual Cricket Carnival events, it is clear that Guyana has been established as a “premier” destination for cricket enthusiasts as well as festival-goers.

“The success of this event not only showcases the rich cultural heritage of Guyana but also highlights the warmth and hospitality of its people,” Ghir said.

With the majority of the events already wrapped up, the highly anticipated Super Concert which features four international super stars including Sean Paul, Machel Montano and Shenseea is scheduled to take place on Saturday night at the National Stadium.

This will be followed by the final match of the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) between the Guyana Amazon Warriors and the Trinbago Knight Riders on Sunday.
