Motorcyclist, 67, dies in accident; daughter hospitalised

An accident between a motorcyclist and a van on Wednesday afternoon resulted in the death of David Rose, a 67-year-old man of Springlands, Corentyne Berbice and the hospitalization of his 23-year-old daughter, Shenezia Rose.

Police Headquarters reported that the 23-year-old driver of the van (GTT 3548) is in Police custody assisting with the investigation.

The state of the motorcycle following the accident

According to the Police report, the accident occurred on the Scottsburg Public Road in Corentyne Berbice at around 12:55 hrs; the motorcycle (#CG 8848) and the van were both proceeding north along the road.

It is alleged by the driver that Rose (the motorcyclist) made a sudden right turn on the road and into the van’s path. His daughter was the pillion rider.

As a result of the collision, both father and daughter fell onto the road surface and sustained injuries to their bodies. They were both picked up by public-spirited citizens and taken to Skeldon Public Hospital, where the motorcyclist was pronounced dead, and the pillion rider is presently receiving medical attention.
