Decomposed body of man found in Non Pareil house

Police are investigating the death of a 55-year-old man whose decomposed body was discovered in his Non Pareil, East Coast Demerara (ECD) house on Monday.

The dead man has been identified as Suresh Seaukumar called ‘Charles’.

Reports are that Seaukumar was an alcoholic. He lived alone and was last seen in his verandah during the month of June 2023.

Police Headquarters said the discovery was made around 11:45 hrs at Seaukumar’s Section ‘B’ Non Pareil, ECD, home after his daughter Noorena Seaukumar, a 35-year-old woman of Herstelling, East Bank Demerara (EBD), went to his house on Sunday afternoon to check on him.

However, the house was secured and Noorena left.

Police said Noreena returned to the Vigilance Police Station on Monday where she told Police Officers that she had not seen or heard from her father for seven months since they weren’t on speaking terms.

Resultantly, the Officers to journey to the house.

“On arrival, the Police entered the house, where they discovered the decomposed body in a lying position on a bed in one of the bedrooms,” the statement from Police Headquarters said.

Due to the state of decomposition, Police said Seaukumar’s body could not have been examined.

His body was escorted to the Memorial Gardens Funeral Home awaiting a post-mortem examination.
