CNOOC and Chinese Medical Team donate equipment to GPHC
Traditional Chinese Medicine, which is based on the ancient medical and cultural practices of China, is renowned for its health and wellness benefits. The Chinese Medical Team is based at the Georgetown Public Hospital and has collaborated with the institution to make these services available locally. The TCM Centre, located on the second floor of the Hospital’s outpatient block, consists of two consultation rooms, providing the residents with acupuncture, Chinese massage, cupping, health rehabilitation and other TCM diagnosis and treatment services. The Centre is responsible for spreading knowledge about TCM locally.
At the initiative of the Chinese Medical Team, in collaboration with the Hospital, the purchase of new acupuncture and massage examination beds, treatment cabinets and related supporting equipment from China was funded by CNOOC Petroleum Guyana Limited (CPGL). The move helps to address the difficulties in adapting to new treatment methodologies and diagnoses due to outdated facilities at the TCM clinic.
According to the Chinese Medical Team, their support of the local health care system not only imparts advanced medical technology and service concepts but also shares the traditional Chinese virtues of caring, friendship and mutual assistance with the Guyanese people.
