Food vendor who attempted to ‘falsely’ renew gun licence charged

Cyril Joseph Dyer called ‘Bling’, a 45-year-old fast food vendor of Light Street, Alberttown, Georgetown, was Tuesday charged with possession of an unlicenced firearm and ammunition.

Police Headquarters in a statement said Dyer was arrested on Friday last at Brickdam Police Station with a 9mm Glock pistol and 13 9mm rounds of ammunition.

At about 16:00 hrs on January 26, Dyer visited the office of Superintendent Roberts at the Brickdam Police Station to have his Firearm Licence renewed.

During the process, it was revealed that Dyer was not a holder of a firearm licence.

The accused appeared at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court before Chief Magistrate Sherdel Isaacs-Marcus where she read both charges to him.

He pleaded not guilty to both charges, and bail was granted in the sum of $100, 000.

The matter was adjourned to February 21, 2024 for disclosure.
