Man accused of killing Corentyne welder died by hanging-autopsy

held for the murder of Corentyne welder, Joshua Hardatt died from asphyxiation due to hanging.

Police Headquarters confirmed the findings of the autopsy which was performed by Dr Nehaul Singh on Wednesday.

No marks of violence were seen on Ramotar’s body, the Police said.

Ramotar was taken into Police custody on May 22 pending an investigation into the murder of Hardatt. He died on May 25.

Police, in a statement, said Hardatt was told that he would charged with the offence of murder last Saturday morning.

He was also told that he was required to appear at the Whim Magistrate’s Court on May 28. The charge was also read to him.

By 16:55 hrs Saturday, the ranks on duty went to the lock-ups to visit prisoners and found Ramotar dead.

He was reportedly hanging.

The Office of Professional Responsibility (OPR) has launched an investigation into Ramotar’s death.
