Kidackie Amsterdam: Jagdeo says ‘violent rhetoric can lead to unintended consequences’

charged with a cybercrime and released on $200,000 bail; additional charges are likely.

Jagdeo was asked about Amsterdam on Thursday at his weekly press conference at Freedom House, the People’s Progressive Party Civic (PPP/C) headquarters in Georgetown.

“If we allow this violent rhetoric to take over our society it can lead to unintended consequences.

“What he did was illegal and seditious if you look at what he (the caller on the programme) said,” Jagdeo said.

Furthermore, the Vice President clarified that the government will allow the Police to investigate the situation instead of interfering, even though the threats were made against the President, Jagdeo, Attorney General Anil Nandall and Finance Minister Dr. Ashni Singh.

“You don’t see paranoia in this government and of course the law must take its course and that is what the Police are doing,” he said.
