Unlicensed teen driver arrested for Rose Hall hit & run accident
The News Room was informed that the teenager, who works as a cashier, was apprehended hours after the accident. She remains in custody as the investigation continues.
Police Headquarters in a statement said that Budhram was walking on the John’s Public Road, Corentyne Coast when the pickup, bearing registration number GNN 4363, crashed into him.
As a result of the impact, Budhram was flung into a nearby bus shed.
The pick-up ended up in a nearby drain and the driver immediately fled the scene.
Deonarine was picked up in an unconscious state by a public-spirited citizen and taken to Port Mourant Public Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
Speaking to reporters recently, Budhram’s sister-in-law Nandranie Baichan said she is demanding justice.
“Me want justice. Me holding out fah justice. Them got to give me justice for me brother-in-law.
“That car man knock dah bai and left um so. Left dah bai on the road. Nobody nah pick up, nobody nah do nothing. Left um to dead on the road,” Baichan said.
According to Baichan, Budhram left home early Sunday morning and as time passed, she became worried as he was not returning home.
Subsequently, she said she received a call from a relative informing her that he was involved in an accident and he died.
By time she arrived at the scene, Budhram’s body was already removed and taken to the mortuary.
