Labourer, 25, stabbed to death during fight

Police are on the hunt for three men who allegedly stabbed a 25-year-old miner to death Saturday night during a fight at Enterprise, East Coast Demerara (ECD).

Dead is Trevoltor Mangal, 25, a resident of Enterprise, ECD.

The stabbing occurred at about 19:00hrs at Park Street, Enterprise, ECD.

In a statement, Police Headquarters said Trevoltor’s mother, Nalanie Chand, a 61-year-old of Gandhi Street Enterprise, told investigators that he left home earlier in the afternoon.

About an hour and a half later, Police said Trevoltor went to a bar where he purchased a beer and sat outside.

Minutes after, Police added that the suspects arrived at the bar and began to play pool.

According to the Police, the bartender claimed that he overheard Trevoltor arguing with one of the suspects over a motorcycle.

Shortly after, the suspect left and headed West on Park Street, Enterprise, ECD. Trevoltor followed the suspects, Police said.

On Saturday night around 19:00 hrs, Police further related that residents who were standing in front of the PlayLand Restaurant observed the suspect suspects running. They were chasing Trevoltor.

The men eventually caught up with Trevoltor and a ‘scuffle’ ensued.

While Trevoltor managed to escape his attackers and ran East through Forbes Street, Enterprise, ECD towards the bar, he was chased by the suspect.

Trevoltor ran and stood in front of the bar where he called out to the bartender, after which he collapsed.

The suspects then fled the scene.

Trevoltor was picked up by a Police mobile anti-crime patrol and taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital pronounced dead on arrival.  A single stab wound was seen to his chest.

Police said several people were questioned resulting in the suspects being identified by names.

They are yet to be arrested.
