Citizens Bank opens new $1.8B Georgetown branch

At the commissioning ceremony, President Ali noted how such expansion gives proof of the country’s banking and financial systems being one of the soundest in the region.

He recalled that in 1992 when the People’s Progressive Party assumed office, there was a modest number of financial institutions and commercial banks with branches mainly concentrated in Georgetown.

After several financial sector reforms, though, he said the government created the conditions for the growth and expansion in the sector.
