Entire coastline to receive treated water by 2025
According to him, transmission systems have already been installed across the Essequibo Coast starting from Supenaam to Anna Regina which will link the Lima Treatment Plant to a new plant being constructed at Onderneeming. Eventually, another treatment plant will be constructed close to Charity.
In addition to the works in Region Two (Pomeroon/Supenaam), Daniels said the entire Region Three (Essequibo Islands/West Demerara) will also be furnished with new or rehabilitated plants or new transmission systems.
“Over the last three years, government would have made a tremendous amount of money available for us to invest in treated water coverage across the coastland. All of this is geared towards ensuring we reach our SDG goals first and foremost, but also to ensure that the populace of Guyana receives treated water, free of iron, disinfected, and safe to drink.”
