Mon Repos man on $250,000 bail after theft of steel rods 

Shazad Khan, a 29-year-old machine operator of Mon Repos, East Coast Demerara, was charged with simple larceny on Tuesday after he stole steel rods worth about $268,000.

Police Headquarters said the man reportedly stole from Shazam Ibrahim on March 29 at La Bonne Intention, ECD.

Khan appeared at the Sparendaam Magistrate’s Court #2 before Magistrate Abigail Gibbs, where the charge was read to him, and he pleaded not guilty.

Bail was granted in the sum of $250,000 with a condition to report at the Beterverwagting Police Station on the last Friday of every month, pending the outcome of the investigation.

The matter was postponed to May 1, 2025.
