Wicketkeeper/batsman Kemol Savory spent valuable time at the crease, scoring only the second half-century of the game as the Guyana Harpy Eagles practice match between Tevin Imlach XI and Matthew Nandu XI meandered to a tame draw on Saturday at the Everest Ground.

The rain-affected three-day game saw runs hard to come by with no team getting a total beyond 180; a total of 23 wickets fell.

Resuming the final day on 110-2 in response to Imlach XI’s first innings score of 180, Nandu XI managed 164 all out, losing the last eight wickets for just 40 runs.

Zeynul Ramsammy added just two to his overnight score of 30, while Savory was the ninth batsman dismissed for 63 off 146 balls (4x4s, 1x6s), the highest individual score of the match.

Shamar Apple (3), Romario Ramdeholl (2), Thaddeus Lovell (1), Aryan Persaud (1), Chanderpaul Ramraj (0) and Nial Smith (1) were all dismissed cheaply.

Off-spinner Richie Looknauth produced a miserly bowling performance, claiming 3-29 off 25 overs, 14 of which were maidens, while left-arm spinner Antony Adams bagged 3-36 off 18 and leg-spinner Nityanand Mathura 2-18 off 4.2 overs.

Batting a second time, Imlach XI reached 62-3 by stumps with openers Raymond Perez (29) and Urshadeva Balgobin (22) adding 53 for the first wicket. Balgobin was the other player with a fifty in the match, scoring 59 in the first innings.

Romario Ramdeholl (1-2), Aryan Persaud (1-3) and Micah Amsterdam (1-33) were the wicket-takers.

A second practice game will be held at Everest on March 17-19, with the third set for GCC from March 22-24.

The Guyana Harpy Eagles are the reigning West Indies Four-Day champions, having won the last three championships on the trot and eight of the last 10 titles.
