Several lawyers and State Counsel at the Attorney General Chambers are undergoing specialised training to prepare cases for the next edition of the Law Reports.

This forms part of the government’s ongoing effort to strengthen legal reporting and access to justice.

“The goal is for the Attorney General’s Chambers to be fully equipped with the legal and technical capacity so that continuous law revision and law reporting can be realised,” Attorney General Anil Nandlall said on Monday.

The training for lawyers on law revision and consolidation is being facilitated by the Regional Law Revision Centre in Anguilla, with oversight provided by the Law Revision Unit. Meanwhile, state counsel are being trained within the Chambers to meticulously prepare cases for inclusion in the upcoming Law Reports edition.

According to Nandlall, law revision, consolidation and law reporting remain key priorities for the government.

On Monday, the government launched the Revised Laws of Guyana, updated to December 31, 2022, along with law reports covering the period 2008 to 2021. Printing of the revised laws was facilitated by the government at a cost of $178 million, producing 200 sets of 19 volumes.
