Venezuelans screened, no evidence of human trafficking found – Police
A joint operation conducted at Diamond, East Bank Demerara, late Sunday night into Monday morning has found no evidence of Trafficking in Persons (TIP), the Guyana Police Force said.
The exercise was carried out between 23:30 hrs on Sunday, April 12 and 00:15 hrs on Monday, April 13 by ranks of the Guyana Police Force Headquarters and Regional Division 4 ‘B’, along with personnel from the Ministry of Home Affairs.
Acting on information received, the team visited a building in the area where seventeen Venezuelan women were contacted and screened for indicators of human trafficking.
Police said the screening revealed no signs of Trafficking in Persons.
The individuals were subsequently sent away.
A search of the premises was also conducted, but nothing illegal was found.
No arrests were made.
