The Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) has recommended that an inquest be conducted into the death of Adriana Younge, which occurred between April 23 and 24, 2025, at Tuschen, East Bank Essequibo.
The Guyana Police Force confirmed that it has received the legal advice and is moving to initiate the inquest in accordance with the law.
An inquest is a judicial inquiry typically ordered in cases of sudden or unexplained deaths, aimed at determining the cause and circumstances surrounding the incident.
In a brief statement, the Police Force acknowledged the importance of maintaining public trust, particularly in sensitive cases, and said it remains committed to professionalism, accountability and transparency.
The Force added that additional information will be provided as the process unfolds.
