Guyana Amazon Warriors have drafted in rising talent Jonathan Van Lange for the upcoming ExxonMobil Guyana Global Super League (GSL).

The all-rounder replaces wicketkeeper-batter Amir Jangoo, who has been withdrawn following his maiden call-up to the West Indies Test squad.

The 19-year-old all-rounder’s stock has risen sharply over the last few months. Van Lange made a stellar transition to senior cricket in May, smashing a century on his First-Class debut for Guyana Harpy Eagles against the West Indies Academy.

He backed that up with a crucial, even fifty against Trinidad and Tobago Red Force in the West Indies Four-Day Championship final, proving his big-match temperament.

Known for his hard-hitting ability in the middle order and his lively medium pace, Van Lange’s utility has made him a hot commodity in the regional circuit.

The GSL call-up caps off a breakout year for the teenager, who has also been locked into the Amazon Warriors’ squad for the subsequent Caribbean Premier League (CPL) campaign running through August and September.

The reigning champions retain a formidable core despite Jangoo’s absence, boasting a heavy arsenal of international T20 firepower, including Shimron Hetmyer, Romario Shepherd, Glenn Phillips, and the ageless Imran Tahir.

The five-team Global Super League, scheduled from July 23 to August 1 on Guyanese soil, features a mini-World Cup flavour.

The Amazon Warriors will test their mettle against Pakistan’s Lahore Qalandars, UAE’s Desert Vipers, Australia’s Perth Scorchers XI, and Major League Cricket’s San Francisco Unicorns.

Guyana Amazon Warriors Squad: Shimron Hetmyer, Romario Shepherd, Rovman Powell, Gudakesh Motie, Glenn Phillips, Imran Tahir, Dwaine Pretorius, Mohammad Nabi, Muhammad Haris, Johnson Charles, Quentin Sampson, Keemo Paul, Matthew Forde, Jonathan Van Lange.
