ENet has also sponsored Guyanese biker Matthew Vieira for the upcoming meet.
Vieira, who will officially launch his bike on Friday night at a ‘tune up’ event at MovieTowne, will suit up for the highly anticipated and competitive Supersport category, which has attracted over 20 competitors from Guyana, Trinidad, Barbados, USA and the UK.

“From our end at ENet, we’ve been impressed with the proposals from GMR&SC, the new format for the event, the facilities (at South Dakota) and the amount of work that is going into those facilities,” Persaud, himself a Group 4 driver, highlighted.
“From a driver’s perspective, it (South Dakota) is probably the most superior track in the region. Guyana has been known, without having the (extended) track before, as the mecca of motor-racing in the Caribbean. It’s going to be exciting to see how all turns out, because as it sits right now, everybody is close in lap times.”
Guyanese Vishok Persaud will line up in the Group Four category
Races get underway at 11:00h on November 5, with rivalry in Group 4, Group 3, Group 2, Starlet Cup, Sports Tuner, Street Tuner and Superstock and Supersport bikes.
Pre-sale tickets are available at G$3,000 (adults) and G$1,000 (children).
A field development plan (FDP) for ExxonMobil’s sixth project in the Stabroek Block offshore Guyana was submitted to local authorities last week.
President of ExxonMobil Guyana, Alistair Routledge confirmed on Tuesday that the FDP was submitted on October 13, 2023.
“So that has commenced the process on all regulatory fronts,” Routledge told reporters during a press conference at the company’s Georgetown Headquarters.
He said too that the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) has already been submitted to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and is awaiting approval.
“So that’s been an active process, but we’re very much into the formal stages of the regulatory process,” he said.

The Police are investigating an incident where two men, including a security guard, shot at each other at the ‘Cheers and Beers’ bar located on Alexander Street between Bar and Thomas Street, Kitty.
Police Headquarters noted that the incident occurred at about 04:30 hrs on October 15. It is alleged that Constable Grant, who was on duty at the Kitty Police Station, reported that he heard three loud explosions that appeared to be gunshots.
As a result, cops who were on patrol duty in the area visited the bar and spoke with 32-year-old Vernon Hardin, a security guard who was on duty at the bar.
Hardin, who has a license to carry a gun, told the Police that he was at the bar armed with a licensed Taurus 9mm pistol along with 14 live rounds of ammunition when an “identifiable man” approached him and discharged two rounds at him.
Hardin said he immediately discharged a round at the suspect, during which the suspect dropped the firearm and escaped.
“The suspected firearm, which was on the ground in the vicinity of the bar, was picked up by a Police rank, and on examining it, it was observed to be one suspected.45 pistol, along with one magazine containing eight live 45 rounds of ammunition,” the Police statement noted.
The scene was photographed and processed by the Police, but no spent shells were found. The suspected firearm was taken to the Kitty Police Station, where it was dusted for fingerprints.
Hardin’s firearm was also seized; the Police are yet to arrest the suspect.
