Adrian Inshan, a 22-year-old pillion rider, succumbed to his injuries on Monday after he was involved in an accident on the Number 79 Public Road, Corentyne, Berbice.
This is according to an update provided by Police Headquarters.
It was earlier reported that 18-year-old Keishan Ramnauth, a labourer from the Number 60 Village, and 21-year-old Ameer Subhan, a supervisor at Queensway Security Service, formerly of ‘B’ Line Path.
Ramnauth was reportedly riding a motorcycle (#CN 6641) just after midnight; Inshan was the pillion rider. They were traveling south in the eastern lane of the road, allegedly at a fast rate. It is alleged that Ramnauth lost control of the motorcycle and collided with another motorcycle (#CP 3158). Subhan was on that motorcycle, heading north in the western lane.
The collision resulted in the riders of both motorcycles and the pillion rider being thrown onto the road, sustaining various injuries.
Guyana’s U-20 Women’s National Team recorded a comprehensive 5-0 victory over hosts Antigua and Barbuda in their second match of the Concacaf U-20 Qualifiers.
Se-Hanna Mars led the charge with a hat-trick, including a penalty in the 21st minute and two further goals in the 63rd and 68th minutes on Sunday.
Liyah Menilek also added her name to the scoresheet in the 78th minute, and Karmiellia Hughes’s own goal completed the scoring in the 85th minute.
This win provisionally places Guyana second in Group A. Haiti currently leads the group with two wins from two matches.

A 64-year-old man died on Sunday night after being struck by a motor vehicle on the Williamsburg, Corentyne, Berbice Public Road.
Dead is Dennis Gilkes, who had no fixed place of residence.
According to reports, around 19:30 hrs Sunday, Nicholas Yadram, 24, a chauffeur of Block 1 Kilcoy, Chesney Village, Corentyne, was driving a motor lorry with the license plate GTT 6428 westward along the road at what he claimed was a normal speed.
There were reportedly two motorcars ahead of him when the first car attempted to overtake the second car. At that moment, Yadram noticed a pedestrian in the center of his lane, approximately ten feet away, walking westward. He applied the brakes to avoid a collision; however, the front part of the motor lorry struck the pedestrian.
As a result of the collision, the pedestrian fell onto the road and sustained injuries. The driver, along with some bystanders, picked up the unconscious man and placed him in the motor lorry, then transported him to the Port Mourant Public Hospital. There, he was examined by a doctor who pronounced Gilkes dead.
A breathalyser test conducted on the driver recorded results of 58 and 55 microgrammes of alcohol, respectively.
The driver is currently in custody, and the police are investigating the incident.
Tragedy struck early Monday morning when two young men lost their lives in an accident on the Number 79 Public Road, Corentyne, Berbice.

Inshan was also examined while unconscious and was subsequently transferred to New Amsterdam Hospital for further medical care.
The police are continuing their investigation into the incident.

Harry Critchlow, a 56-year-old resident of Eccles, East Bank Demerara, died on Saturday after he was struck by a tree that fell into a mining pit.
Police Headquarters reported that the accident occurred at about 10:00 hrs at Thomas Island, Puruni River, Region Seven.
The mining site is operated by Sherwin Herman, a 37-year-old man of Grove Squatting Area, and the owner of the mining claim at Thomas Island. Herman had employed Critchlow to work in the mining pit.
At about 10:00 hrs Saturday, Critchlow was working in the mining pit when a tree stump fell and struck him on the head, rendering him unconscious. The injury was fatal.
The incident was reported to Herman at approximately 11:00 hrs on the same day while he was at his camp.
Several individuals working in the mining pit at the time of the incident were interviewed by detectives and they confirmed witnessing the event as described and provided formal statements.
Following the completion of the initial investigation, the body was escorted from the incident site to the Itaballi Landing early Sunday morning.
Marlan DaSilva, a 32-year-old businessman, was arrested by Police after he allegedly murdered his partner on Saturday night.
Dead is Kenesha Vaughn, a 27-year-old housewife and mother of a three-year-old boy.
Police Headquarters reported that DaSilva and Vaughn lived at the Diamond Housing Scheme, East Bank Demerara.
At about 20:00hrs Saturday night, the suspect arrived home and met the victim. Police said the two argued and DaSilva reportedly slapped Vaughn.
The woman then reportedly reached for a weapon (a knife) and approached the suspect. DaSilva, however, pulled out his firearm from his front pants waist and discharged several rounds in the victim’s direction hitting her about the body. She fell to the ground immediately.
DaSilva is a licensed firearm holder.
The suspect then contacted the Police, who responded and rushed the victim to the Diamond Hospital, where she was seen and examined by a doctor on duty and died while receiving treatment.
Detectives later processed and photographed the entire scene and four 9MM cases and three suspected projectiles were recovered from the scene. Police examined the body at the Diamond Hospital and twelve injuries (entry and exit wounds) suspected to be gunshot wounds, were discovered on her body.
The woman’s body is at the Memorial Gardens Funeral Home. Several persons were contacted and interviewed. All exhibits were marked, sealed, and lodged at the Golden Grove Police Station.
Meanwhile, a breathalyzer test was done on the suspect, who is in Police custody. The results showed he was 83% (alcohol content); the legally prescribed limit is 35%.
Initial investigations also revealed that the suspect was consuming alcohol at a popular drinking establishment on Main Street when the victim called him to come home and he reportedly became annoyed.
To provide farmers with an additional income stream, President Dr Mohamed Irfaan Ali has said the government will be pumping resources to operationalise 1,000 acres of land before the end of 2025, to support the expansion of red beans and black-eyed peas production in the Berbice River.
Presently, 77 farmers from Ebini, Kimbia and other areas are cultivating 663 acres of red beans. And, at least 8,000 acres of cultivation is needed to meet national demand in the initial phase, according to the president.

President Ali pointed out that each acre of land is expected to yield approximately 1,600 pounds of red beans. With 1,000 acres to be cultivated, the nation will be producing an additional 1.6 million pounds of red beans, and black eyed peas annually.
He described this as a true transformation – moving from zero production in these savannahs to an industry that produces millions of pounds of food annually.
“This is adding more income to your community, your pocket and disposable income. There’s something plus farmers here who requested additional land which will be about 803 acres. We are taking it to 1,000 acres because we might have missed a few people,” he highlighted.
He made the disclosure during an engagement with farmers and residents of Kimbia Village and surrounding Berbice River communities on Saturday.
Residents and farmers were informed about the government’s agriculture interventions, which seeks to position Guyana as a major food producer, with support from farmers.
“We are committed to your success. We are committed to agriculture. We are committed to food production. Food and agriculture will be the soul of our country. Food and agriculture will be the soul of what we contribute to CARICOM,” the head of state emphasised.
Beyond crop cultivation, the president invited farmers to consider large-scale swine production, and if the community shows serious interest, the government will be supporting its development.
This will provide farmers with an additional revenue stream while contributing to national food security.
“If it is viable and feasible for us to do it on a large scale in your communities, the Ministry is ready to support that,” he emphasised.
The head of state also extended his government support to cash crop farmers, with planting materials, fertilisers, seeds, and farming implements already provided.
“But we want to take a step forward. We want to work with the cash crop farmers to see how we can add innovation and technology to assist you,” he expressed.
Within this context, he pitched the idea of cultivating chilli peppers and other high value crops using shade-house technology that will enhance production.
Additionally, the president affirmed that his government will work to provide the markets for farmers’ crops, linking rural production to established supply chains.
According to the President, the 1000 acres of land earmarked will also complement farmers executing small scale production and add to the current out put.
Additionally, the Government is supporting the construction of a $1.2bn silo facility on Kimbia for the storage of legumes produced.
The head of state was accompanied by the Minister of Agriculture, Zulfikar Mustapha and other technical staff of the ministry.

President Irfaan Ali has been selected to replace Dr. Keith Rowley as the new chairman of the CARICOM sub-committee on cricket.
The announcement was made by outgoing chairman Dr. Rowley on Friday during the final day of the 48th CARICOM Heads of Government meeting in Barbados.
Dr. Rowley revealed it would be his final CARICOM meeting and said Dr. Ali had been selected as the new chairman.
“…This is the end of my tenure as Prime Minister of Trinidad and Tobago and my last meeting at CARICOM.
“Today I handed over to the plenary selected, or agreed to select, my colleague…my colleague from Guyana, who is an eminent cricketer, as you know, President Dr. Irfaan Ali to now take the chairmanship of the sub-committee on cricket,” Dr. Rowley said.
“We maintain our interest in the potential for West Indies cricket to remain at the high level internationally and the preservation of our legacy and the heads of government should continue to be interested in what goes on in West Indies cricket and assist wherever we can.”
Dr. Rowley said West Indies cricket had been discussed during the three-day meeting, although not in great detail.
He said this was due to the fact that progress had been made in some areas following talks in Guyana and Trinidad and Tobago.
“In recent times, we have not been having heads of government meetings without having a component from West Indies cricket,” Dr. Rowley said.
“We did have some discussion, not too much detail, because we have done some work before in Guyana and Trinidad and Tobago, and we’ve seen some results. Some progress has been made and are being made.” (CMC)

Among those distinguished players was Gudakesh Motie, who received exceptional accolades for his extraordinary contributions on the cricket field throughout 2024.
Motie stood out prominently during the awards ceremony, having been named the Cricketer-of-the-Year for 2024, an honour that speaks volumes about his dedication, skills and consistency in the game.
In addition to this significant recognition, Motie was also celebrated for his various accomplishments over the past year.
He was recognised for representing the West Indies senior team, the Guyana senior team and the Guyana Amazon Warriors franchise in CPL, all in 2024.
Motie’s fellow clubmates Adrian Sukhwa, Jonathan Foo and Veersammy Permaul were recognised for representing the Berbice senior team during the period under consideration.
Damion Cecil, Afraz Ali Budhoo, Ari Afrizal Kadir and Kumar Deopersaud also received awards for their representation of the Berbice Under-19 team in 2024, while Budhoo was honoured for his contribution to the Berbice Under-17 team in 2024.
Chamesh Sewnauth, Feaz Baksh and Arif Marimuthu were awarded for representing the Berbice Under-15 team in 2024, while Said Jumratty and Sahid Gajnabi were recognised for their participation with the Berbice Under-13 team in 2024.

During the ceremony, President of the Albion Cricket Club, Vemen Walter said, “Gudakesh Motie continues to excel at the international level and of course, keeps the flag of Albion flying high.”
Walter further stated, “I would like to congratulate all the cricketers who have represented Berbice, Guyana and the West Indies in the year 2024.”
In his remarks, President of the Berbice Cricket Board Cecil Beharry highlighted that the Albion Cricket Club is renowned for producing many disciplined cricketers. He emphasised that it ranks among the top clubs in Berbice.
Deputy Commissioner of Police Ravindradat Budhram encouraged the aspiring cricketers to work hard and maintain discipline at all times.
“My advice to you, young people, is to stay in school. Focus on your education and balance it with sports. Life after the game is important, so you must prepare for the future,” Budhram stated.
Several sponsors were also presented with certificates of appreciation of their support to the club over the years.
