Three plead guilty, jailed for drug trafficking

Three persons who were arrested by ranks of the customs Anti Narcotic Unit recently were Friday charged and sentenced when they made their court appearances.

Oneal Deleon appeared before Magistrate George at the Lenora Magistrate’s Court, where he pleaded guilty to the offence of possession of a narcotic for the purpose of trafficking to wit 5.308kgs of cannabis.

Deleon was sentenced to four years imprisonment and fined $4.7 million.

Meanwhile, Bryan Edwards appeared before Magistrate Issacs at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court, where he pleaded guilty to the offence of possession of a narcotic for the purpose of trafficking to wit 53.480kgs of cannabis.

Edwards was remanded to prison pending a probation report until May 17, 2024.

Additionally, Leonard Caleb appeared before Magistrate Scarce at the Diamond Magistrate’s Court in relation to the charge of possession of a narcotic for the purpose of trafficking to wit 12.540kgs of cannabis.

Caleb was sentenced to four years imprisonment and fined $11.2 million.
