Mocha man arrested after marijuana found hidden in vehicle

A Mocha, East Bank Demerara resident was on Wednesday arrested by officers of the Customs Anti-Narcotic Unit (CANU) after a search of his vehicle unearthed 72.2 grammes of marijuana.

According to a release from the Unit, ranks conducted an operation at Nelson Street, Mocha, where Ivelaw Lissone, 64, was inside his motor vehicle.

The ranks intercepted and searched the vehicle which had a plastic bag containing several ziploc bags suspected to contain cannabis.

The man was arrested and escorted to CANU’s Headquarters along with the suspected narcotic.

Upon testing the substance, it showed a positive result for cannabis and it was weighed, amounting to a total weight of 72.2 grammes.

The investigation is ongoing.
