Construction worker charged with murder of fellow villager

Kevin Springer, 28, a construction worker of Sparendaam, East Coast Demerara was on Tuesday charged with the murder of Joseph Forde, a 44-year-old construction worker also of Sparendaam, ECD.
Springer appeared at the Sparendaam Magistrate’s Court before Magistrate Rushell Liverpool where the charge was read to him, and he was not required to enter a plea.
Springer was remanded to prison until June 18, 2024.
The murder was allegedly committed between 21:30 and 21:45 hrs at Victoria Road, Plaisance last Thursday.
Police Headquarters, in a statement, said at about 21:20 hrs last Tuesday, Forde intervened in a chopping incident between the Springer and another man in the area, who was later identified as Jermain Williams.
This resulted in an argument between Forde and the suspect, which was eventually resolved.
Following that chopping incident, Police said Forde contacted the victim’s relatives, who took him to the Georgetown Public Hospital.
However, on Thursday night, the Police said a friend of Forde claimed he received a call from a taxi driver informing him that Forde was chopped and was taken to Georgetown Public Hospital.
Separately, Springer and Denzil Scott, 30, a self-employed of Sparendaam, ECD were charged with the attempted murder of Jermain Williams, a 50-year-old unemployed of Prince Williams Street, Plaisance.
