Labourer shot, injured on Water Street

A 64-year-old labourer is currently hospitalised at a city hospital after he was shot and injured on Friday night on Water Street, Georgetown.
The shooting unfolded around 21:30hrs.
The victim, Joseph Singh, of no fixed place of abod, sustained a gunshot wound to his hand.
Police Headquarters in a statement said Singh was heading north on Water Street, in the vicinity of Muneshwar’s Limited, when he observed a grey pitbull bus with a “trade plate”.
The bus was occupied by two men, one of whom Police said discharged several rounds in Singh’s direction.
The bus then drove off in a northern direction.
Singh subsequently went to the Georgetown Public Hospital where he was admitted as a patient.
No spent shell was recovered at the scene.
However, Police said several CCTV cameras were seen in the area and investigators will review video footage of the incident.
