Woman found on road with gunshot to head

The lifeless body of a woman, who the police is yet to identify, was on Sunday discovered lying on the New Diamond Development Housing Scheme, East Bank Demerara road with a gunshot wound to her head.
According to a Police report, investigations revealed that the discovery was made by workers attached to a construction company who were on their way to refuel an excavator.
Police said the workers, who were in two vehicles, were heading east along the road which leads into the housing scheme when they noticed the woman lying face down on the roadway.
The body was clad in a white jersey, black jeans and a pair of black footwear.
A tattoo of a butterfly was seen on her right arm.
The scene was processed and Police said investigators found a 9mm spent shell about ten feet from the woman’s head.
A cell phone was also found next to the body.
“The body was examined, and what appeared to be a gunshot wound was seen at the back of her head,” Police said.
The body was escorted to the Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, awaiting identification and a post-mortem examination.
